Music & Arts

Music and arts play an integral role in the worship life of Westbury UMC, complementing the spoken word in retelling the story of God’s love for all people. Those who participate lead the congregation in expressing and nurturing its faith through regular Sunday morning worship services, as well as other special services and concerts throughout the year. All are welcome to be a part of any or all groups. No experience or training is necessary–only a heart for God and a willingness to learn.

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir is a non-auditioned group that meets each Thursday evening at 7:30 pm in the Choir Room (Rm 200). It leads in worship together with the Agape Youth Choir and the Worship Band each Sunday morning with music that spans across history and cultures–from the standard classical repertoire to music from the Philippines, Brazil or Zimbabwe. Youth Choir

The Agape Youth Choir is a non-auditioned group for 6th-12th graders that meets each Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm in the Choir Room (Rm 200). Together with the Adult Choir, the Youth Choir leads in worship each Sunday morning. Additionally, the Youth Choir travels each summer on a music and missions tour, traveling throughout the country sharing the love of God. Contact Rev. Worship Band

The Worship Band is an auditioned group of instrumentalists who provide much of the accompaniment for congregational song in worship. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. While the band primarily draws from the Contemporary Christian genre, it offers music from varying styles including traditional and contemporary Gospel and jazz. Contact Rev. Handbells

The Master Ringers is a 5-octave handbell choir that occasionally assists in leading worship and performs special concerts throughout the year. It is a non-auditioned group that meets each Thursday evening at 6:30 pm in the Choir Room (Rm 200). Members need not have any particular training or skill to join, only a love for music and a willingness to learn. Contact Rev. Dance

The dance ministry offers a unique opportunity for upper elementary to high school students to express their faith and lead in worship through liturgical dance. Media & Sound Crew

Volunteers are needed each Sunday to help facilitate worship through sound and media. This crew is responsible for making sure the audio and video needs for worship run smoothly with as few glitches as possible. Ushers/Greeters

Greeters are often the first wave of friendly faces newcomers and returning visitors see on Sunday morning, while ushers provide hospitality in helping all feel welcomed in worship.
